Harold Schoenhaus, DPM, FACFAS is a board-certified foot, rearfoot, and reconstructive ankle surgeon by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He is a past president and current fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He holds staff appointments and operating privileges at the University of Pennsylvania Presbyterian Hospital and Chestnut Hill hospital. Dr Schoenhaus' research and clinical interests are in biomechanics, pathomechanics and reconstructive surgery, including joint replacement surgery and pediatric podiatric surgery. Moreover, Dr Schoenhaus is the surgical editor for PRESENT e-Learning Systems, an online medical education and networking resource dedicated to improving the knowledge and skills of healthcare professionals throughout the world. He is a nationally recognized lecturer and pioneer in the field of lower extremity pathomechanics and reconstructive surgery. Dr Schoenhaus has authored several landmark articles in peer-reviewed journals and books. In 2015 Dr Schoenhaus was the recipient of the Gallery of Success Award from Temple University.

Robert G Frykberg, DPM, MPH is a graduate of the California College of Podiatric Medicine in 1976. Dr Frykberg went on to complete his residency training at the New England Deaconess Hospital in Boston. He served as the President of the Massachusetts Podiatric Medical Society and a Member of the Board of Registration in Podiatry. From 1992 to 1994, he attended the Harvard School of Public Health and graduated with a Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in quantitative methods. After 21 years of private practice, Dr Frykberg accepted the position as Clinical Dean of the Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery prior to moving to Phoenix. After 15 years of dedicated service to our Veterans, Dr Frykberg has decided to retire from his role as Chief of Podiatry at the Phoenix VA Medical Center and as Director of the Phoenix VA Medical Center Podiatric Residency Program. He continues to hold the academic rank of Professor, University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix and Adjunct Professor, Midwestern University Program in Podiatric Medicine. His research and writing interests have included all facets of lower extremity disorders, but are specifically focused on diabetic foot ulcers, infections, Charcot foot, and wound care. The author of nearly 100 peer-reviewed publications, he has also been the Editor of two textbooks: The High-Risk Foot in Diabetes Mellitus (1991) and the Diabetic Charcot Foot (2010). His expertise in the Diabetic Foot translated into hundreds of speaking invitations nationally and internationally with numerous lecture engagements in China, India, Russia, South America, the UK, Vietnam, Japan, Indonesia, Italy, and across Europe.

Thomas E Serena, MD, FACS, FACHM, MAPWCA, CEO and Medical Director of The SerenaGroup, a family of the wound, hyperbaric and research companies, is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of The College of William and Mary and Penn State Medical School. He completed his residency in Surgery at The Milton S Hershey Medical Center with an additional year of training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Southern Illinois University. To date, he has opened and operates wound care centers across the United States and globally. Dr Serena has been the lead or Principal investigator in over 100 clinical trials, including gene therapy for critical limb ischemia, antimicrobial dressings, growth factors, topical and parenteral antibiotics, and CTP therapy. He founded the first wound healing cooperative research group that produced more than 12 manuscripts in 2016 alone. In 2011 he developed a diagnostic technique that now bears his name (The Serena Technique). He holds numerous patents on wound care devices and dressings. He is recognized internationally as an expert in the field of wound healing: He has more than 200 published papers and has given more than 1000 invited lectures throughout the world. He has published three medical textbooks and authored numerous book chapters. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Wound Healing Society and served two terms on the board of the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care (AAWC) and is now the President. He has also been Vice-President of the American College of Hyperbaric Medicine and President of the American Professional Wound Care Association.

After graduating from Utah State University, Charles Andersen, MD earned his medical degree at the University of Utah where he also completed an internship and a one year of Surgical Training. He then entered the military where he completed his surgical residency at Madigan Army Medical Center and a Vascular Surgery fellowship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He remained in the military where his positions included program director in General Surgery and Chief of the Department of Surgery at Madigan Army Medical Center for 20 years. After retirement from the Army, he remained at Madigan Army Medical Center as a Civilian Physician. He has spoken nationally and internationally on Vascular Surgery, Limb Preservation, and Wound Care. He has over 100 peer-reviewed publications. Currently, he is Chief of the Vascular/Endovascular/Limb Preservation Service and Medical Director of the Wound Care Clinic at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma Washington. He is a Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of Washington and the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences.

Dr Arnold has practiced medicine in the state of Iowa for 20 years. During this time he has served as medical director of two nursing homes. From 2005 to 2007 he practiced wound care and hyperbaric medicie part time. He also served as Medical Director of the Wound Healing Center at Ft Madison Community Hospital in Ft Madison, IA. From 2007 to 2018, he served as Medical Director for Great River Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine Clinic in Burlington, IA. Since 2018 he has served as the Medical Director of The Healing Center at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, IA where Dr Arnold practices wound care and hyperbaric medicine full-time. Dr Arnold is board certified in Family Medicine and Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine. He is also credentialed by the American Board of Wound Management as a Certified Wound Specialist Physician.

She is currently working on her Doctorate of Nursing Practice at the University of Toledo, with a projected graduation date in 2017. She is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner with over eight years of experience in wound management as a Nurse Practitioner in many settings. She is wound certified by the American Board of Wound Management and a Fellow of the American Association of Clinical Wound Specialists. She is currently the Director of Wound Services at The University of Toledo, in the Division of Vascular, Endovascular, and Wound Surgery.

Gregory Bohn, MD, ABPM/UHM, MAPWCA, FACHM, FAAWC is a practicing General Surgeon and Wound Care Physician. He currently is the Medical Director of the West Shore Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine as well as maintaining a full-time General Surgery Practice. He is Board Certified in Surgery by the American Board of Surgery and in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine by the American Board of Preventative Medicine. Dr Bohn has worked as a consultant in both Wound Care and Surgery. Interested in education, he has directed courses in Wound Care and Surgery. He has helped to plan major wound care meetings as well as participating as a speaker. He has worked nationally as a Medical Director in wound care covering the Midwest area. He graduated from Wayne State University with his Medical Doctorate in 1978 and completed a Residency in General Surgery in Grand Rapids, Michigan at Blodgett and St Mary’s Hospital in 1982. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeon, Fellow of The American College of Hyperbaric Medicine, and member of multiple professional surgical societies and wound care associations.

Windy Cole, DPM, CWSP, is an Adjunct Professor and Director of Wound Care Research at Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine. A native of Youngstown, Ohio, Dr Cole completed her undergraduate degree in biology at the University of Cincinnati, and her podiatry degree with honors from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine. She then completed her surgical residency training at University Hospitals Health System in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr Cole is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. She is an active member of the APMA, OPMA, and AAWC. Dr Cole has been in practice in Northeastern Ohio for 17 years. Her interest is in limb salvage and wound care, and she currently serves as Director of Wound Care Services for Cleveland Regency Hospitals and is the Medical Director at University Hospitals Ahuja Wound Care Center. Dr Cole has published on wound care modalities and speaks nationally and internationally on limb preservation and wound care.

Kara S. Couch, MS, CRNP, CWCN-AP, CHWS, graduated with her Master of Science in Nursing (FNP) from Georgetown University in 2002. Currently she works as an NP in the Wound Healing and Limb Preservation Center at George Washington University Hospital. In 2018, Kara became the Director of Inpatient Wound Care at George Washington University Hospital. She is an Associate Research Professor of Surgery at the School of Medicine and Health Sciences at George Washington University. Her primary wound interests are in amputee care, wound infection and venous ulcers. Ms Couch is the current nurse board member of the Alliance of Wound Care Stakeholders and the Secretary of the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care (AAWC). She is an editorial board member of Wound Management and Prevention, Today’s Wound Clinic and WoundSource 2020. Kara is the liaison for the American Association of Nurse Practitioners to the Alliance. In 2017, she was voted onto the Scientific and Medical Advisory Committee of the Amputee Coalition. She became Chair in 2019.

Ryan Fitzgerald, DPM, FACFAS was born in Charlottesville, Virginia and spent his childhood between living overseas and in central Virginia. He attended Hampden Sydney College, in Virginia, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Biology. Upon graduation, he pursued a career in medicine and moved to Miami, Florida, where he attended Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery. While enrolled at Barry University, Dr Fitzgerald earned top marks in his didactic and clinical coursework consistently earning a place on the Dean and President lists, as well as earning both Leadership and Faculty scholarships. He graduated at the top of his class and was inducted into the Pi Delta National Podiatry Honor Society in recognition of his outstanding scholastic achievement. He was also awarded the American Board of Podiatric Surgery's prestigious Michael L Stone Professional Conduct Award. Following graduation, Dr Fitzgerald pursued his residency training at the MEDSTAR Washington Hospital Center, and at Georgetown University Hospital, in Washington DC. This program provided vast exposure to all facets of podiatric medical and surgical care, including advanced wound care techniques, diabetic limb salvage, pediatric deformity correction and reconstructive and trauma surgery of the foot and ankle. Dr Fitzgerald has a passion for medical missions and has served as a volunteer surgeon on missions around the world, most recently serving in the middle east, where he helped to staff forward operating field hospitals where he, and others, provided provides medical and surgical care to patients suffering as a consequence of the on-going Syrian refugee crisis. Dr Fitzgerald has also served as an attending physician Port-au-Prince, Haiti, where he worked alongside Haitian wound care specialists to perform limb-sparing surgery.

She completed her Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr Garten completed two years of podiatric medicine and surgical residency at Montgomery Hospital in the Philadelphia area. She then continued her training at Washington Hospital Center/Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC, which provided further extensive training in foot and ankle surgery, sports medicine, diabetic limb salvage, elective forefoot and rearfoot reconstruction and management of in-house patients with vast medical issues. Dr Garten is a certified Pedorthist and Board Certified in Foot Surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. She serves as a member of the District of Columbia Board of Podiatry, as well as President of the American Association for Women Podiatrists. Dr Garten often lectures on topics related to the foot and ankle, as well as diabetic wound care. Her passions in medicine revolve around promoting physical activity for injury prevention and improved overall health and happiness. Suhad A Hadi, DPM, FACFAS graduated from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine, now Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine in 1997. She completed a 3-year surgical residency at the University of Texas at San Antonio from 1997-2000. Upon completion of her training, she continued as faculty at UTHSC-SA where she served as Director of Resident Education for 3 years. She then went on to private practice with Mercy Medical Group, now Dignity Health, in Sacramento, California. While there she served as Chief of Podiatry within the group and served as Medical Director of their Timberlake satellite clinic. Dr Hadi was also Section Chief at Mercy San Juan and Mercy General Hospitals and held various leadership roles within the multispecialty group. She has been with the Veterans Administration since 2009 and was Director of the PAVE (Prevention of Amputations in Veterans Everywhere) program in Seattle, Washington. She is now full-time faculty at Louis Stokes Veterans Administration in Cleveland at the Akron CBOC facility. Her training and work have given her a strong background in diabetic foot and limb salvage as well as resident education/training. She founded and developed the Residency Educator’s Course in her work with PRESENT e-Learning Systems and has certifications in clinical education at both the University of Texas Health Science Center, and recently achieved certification and is an Associate Graduate of Harvard Medical School’s Train to Teach in Medicine program. She has been appointed as a Board Member of the Kent State University’s Foot and Ankle Clinic.

He is a staff surgeon and member of the teaching faculty of the Department of Surgery at the Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and an active clinical investigator with an emphasis on patient-oriented research.

Jaclyn Marino, DPM, DrPH, MPH, DABPM, FACFAOM, graduated from Texas A&M University and started her career as a Biomedical Engineer at NASA. She served as a Flight Controller in the Mission Control Center, at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, where she worked both Space Shuttle and Space Station missions. She then obtained a Master's Degree in Public Health at the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth, where she focused on Community Health, and finished the ABD portion of her Doctorate in Public Health at UNTHSC. After graduate school, Dr. Marino obtained her Podiatric Medicine degree from Barry University in Miami. She concurrently obtained her Doctorate in Social and Behavioral Sciences from the UNTHSC and submitted her dissertation on the Emotional Impact of Caregiving of the Diabetic Foot Ulcer Patient. She served as an Adjunct Professor at Barry University and taught in the Public Health program, while a podiatric medical student. Dr. Marino is the Chief of Podiatry at the Orlando VAHCS in Lake Nona, FL. Dr. Marino is happily married and considers her greatest achievement to be her son, Edward.

Catherine T Milne, APRN, MSN, ANP/ACNS-BC, CWOCN-AP is an Adult Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Nurse Specialist at Connecticut Clinical Nursing Associates, a practice focusing on direct patient care, consultation, education and research located in Bristol, CT. She is additionally affiliated with the Bristol Hospital Wound, Ostomy, Lymphedema Center. Ms. Milne has published several articles in professional journals and coauthored the text, Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nursing Secrets. She is an abstract reviewer for Symposium on Advanced Wound Care and on the editorial review boards for Ostomy/Wound Management, and Kestral Wound Product Sourcebook. For her contributions as Co-chair of the Association for Advancement in Wound Care (AAWC) Quality of Care Task Force, she was awarded Distinguished Member of the Year. She frequently speaks nationally and internationally on a variety of wound related topics. Additionally, she serves as an Associate Clinical Professor for the Yale School of Nursing.

Ralph J Napolitano, Jr, DPM, CWSP, FACFAS is a double board-certified podiatrist and wound care specialist physician specializing in medicine, surgery and wound care of the foot, ankle, and lower leg. He is the Director of Wound Care and Healing with OrthoNeuro, a multispecialty medical practice based in central Ohio. He is also an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Specialty Medicine at Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio. Dr Napolitano is a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and a diplomate of the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and the American Board of Wound Management. He was the first podiatrist in the state of Ohio to earn the board certification Certified Wound Specialist Physician (CWSP). He remains active publishing and lecturing locally and nationally on wound care and healing. In 2018, Dr Napolitano was the only podiatrist in the world to have an article accepted into the Cureus Journal of Medical Science’s publishing competition on negative pressure wound therapy with instillation and dwell utilizing novel dressings. In 2019, during a limited commercial release, he was the first clinician in North America to trial DERMATAC™, a new single-use, proprietary silicone acrylic hybrid drape that is used as an accessory to NPWT systems. When not practicing medicine, Dr Napolitano enjoys spending time with his wife and their two children. His broad interests include music, golf, fishing, and mountain biking. Of particular interest is jazz music. His main instrument is the trumpet. Over the years he has studied, performed, and recorded with members of The Columbus Symphony Orchestra, The Columbus Jazz Orchestra, and the Saturday Night Live Band.

Alisha Oropallo, MD, FACS is currently a practicing vascular surgeon and wound care physician. She is the Medical Director of the Comprehensive Wound Healing Center and Hyperbarics at Northwell Health. She is involved with basic science with the Feinstein Institute of Medical Research, translational, and clinical research. She actively participates in numerous speaking engagements in national organizations including the American College of Surgeons. She is a frequent lecturer on all aspects of wound management and treatment. She is a co-founder in the development of Northwell Health’s first regional multidisciplinary wound care conference to help educate clinicians. She is currently an Associate Professor at Zucker Hofstra school of Medicine, Fellow of the American College of Surgeons with board certification in Surgery and Vascular Surgery, and a certification in wound care. She authors many journal articles and is a reviewer for several journals. She is currently on the speaker’s bureau for the American Association of Wound Care for the advancement of wound healing. She is a recipient of the national Shire research award for translational research. She holds the title of Associate Professor, Feinstein Institute of Medical Research. She has performed numerous clinical trials including investigator led as well as industry sponsored. She enjoys research on the advancement of wound healing through new technological innovations, testing new products or product developments, and improving patient quality of care in wound healing.

Richard Simman, MD, FACS, FACCWS, is the founding president and chair of the American Board of Wound Medicine and Surgery (ABWMS), past president of the American College of Clinical Wound Specialists (ACCWS), past editor in chief of the journal of the college, and sits on the editorial board of the Annals of Plastic Surgery. He is adjunct Professor at the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio. Dr Simman is also Co-Director of the Wound Care Program at Jobst Vascular Institute/ProMedica Health Network, Toledo, Ohio. Terry Treadwell, MD, FACS received his medical education at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas. He continued his training doing his general and vascular surgical residencies at Scott and White Medical Center in Temple, Texas. He practiced vascular and general surgery in Montgomery, Alabama. In October, 1998, Dr Treadwell founded The Institute for Advanced Wound Care at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery. He served as Medical Director of the center and treated wound patients on a full-time basis providing the best possible care to this seemingly forgotten group of patients. In February, 2006, the Institute for Advanced Wound Care moved to Baptist Medical Center in Montgomery. Dr Treadwell serves as the Medical Director of the Institute. He has been involved with numerous educational and research initiatives and directs wound care educational programs at his wound center to help educate physicians and other medical personnel in the current therapy of acute and chronic wounds. Dr Treadwell has shared his experience in the treatment of chronic wounds through lectures and presentations and publications. Wound care practitioners from around the world have attended preceptorships at the Institute for Advanced Wound Care. He has assisted in the establishment of wound treatment centers in Ghana, Africa, and Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Dr Treadwell is the Clinical Editor of Wounds magazine and is a member of the World Association of Medical Editors. He is a member of the Wound Healing Society and the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care. He has served two terms as the Physician Member of the AAWC Board of Directors. He has served as the President of the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care and is currently the Past-President of the organization. He is also serving on the World Health Organization Committee and the World Alliance for Wound and Lymphedema Care to develop wound education and treatment guidelines for treatment of acute and chronic wounds in underdeveloped countries of the world. He is the current Vice-President of the World Alliance for Wound and Lymphedema Care Board of Directors and the President-Elect.

Marie Williams, DPM, DABPS, DHLS, is board certified in foot and ankle surgery and a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgery. Dr Williams was the first clinical dean at Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine and is currently an Adjunct Professor for the school. Dr Williams has been in private practice since 1984. She is currently the Chairman of the Department of Podiatry at Aventura Hospital and Medical Center. She has been involved in residency training since 1986 and a Program Director in Podiatric Surgery and Medicine since 1988. Dr Williams is a speaker in the field of foot and ankle surgery as well as limb salvage. She has published several articles on the healing of complex wounds and limb salvage, while also authoring a chapter: Bone Infections in "Foot and Ankle Radiology". In August 2014, Dr Williams was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts along with her teammates from Immaculata College. Their team, the Mighty Macs, captured three consecutive Championships. They were considered trailblazers for women sports, and in the 70s they help bring about Title 9 and equality for women in sports. In June 2015 they received the trailblazer award in the women’s basketball hall of fame. Dr Williams was recently requested to be a Keynote Speaker for Immaculata University and received the Doctor of Humane Letters for her humanitarian efforts in May 2018.

Specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of foot, ankle, and lower leg medical conditions in patients from infancy through adulthood, Dr Philip Wrotslavsky is a highly respected fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS) and board certified (Foot and Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery) surgeon by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He is also licensed to practice in the state of California. Dr Wrotslavsky received his training on the East Coast, where he learned techniques such as performing a full bio mechanical exam, which allows him to identify lower extremity pathology from the spine all the way to the foot. He was fortunate enough to complete his orthopedic fellowship as the Chief Fellow under the guidance of Drs Dror Paley and John Herzenberg in Baltimore, Maryland at the International Center for Limb Lengthening. The program, known as The Limb Reconstruction Fellowship Program, offered experience in studying the prevention and treatment of a variety of limb threatening foot ailments such as diabetic charcot neuroarthropathy, malunions, nonunions, and various limb deformities. While in the program, Dr Wrotslavsky adopted techniques from the science of distraction osteogenesis while also becoming skilled at using a full range of orthopedic fixation materials, such as screws, intramedullary rods, plates, as well as monolateral and circular fixators. These techniques and materials help with the treatment of a variety of deformities. Prior to the fellowship, Dr Wrotslavsky completed his foot and ankle surgical residency training in New York City. Here, he worked with a multidisciplinary team of podiatric, orthopedic, vascular, and general physicians and surgeons in an inner city hospital. The team worked on patients with foot and ankle wound care, diabetics in need of limb salvage or reconstruction, ankle arthroscopy, trauma to the foot or ankle, neurological cavovarus foot reconstruction, and flatfoot reconstruction. Dr Wrotslavsky continues to enjoy working with teams of physicians to determine patients’ ailments and helping them find the appropriate treatment. He currently performs surgery for his patients at Scripps Mercy Hospital and Pomerado Hospital.
