Harold Schoenhaus, DPM, FACFAS

Harold Schoenhaus, DPM, FACFAS is a board-certified foot, rearfoot, and reconstructive ankle surgeon by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He is a past president and current fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He holds staff appointments and operating privileges at the University of Pennsylvania Presbyterian Hospital and Chestnut Hill hospital. Dr Schoenhaus' research and clinical interests are in biomechanics, pathomechanics and reconstructive surgery, including joint replacement surgery and pediatric podiatric surgery. Moreover, Dr Schoenhaus is the surgical editor for PRESENT e-Learning Systems, an online medical education and networking resource dedicated to improving the knowledge and skills of healthcare professionals throughout the world. He is a nationally recognized lecturer and pioneer in the field of lower extremity pathomechanics and reconstructive surgery. Dr Schoenhaus has authored several landmark articles in peer-reviewed journals and books. In 2015 Dr Schoenhaus was the recipient of the Gallery of Success Award from Temple University.

Robert G Frykberg, DPM, MPH, MAPWCA, FRSM, FFPM (Glasg) is a graduate of the California College of Podiatric Medicine in 1976. Dr Frykberg went on to complete his residency training at the New England Deaconess Hospital in Boston. He served as the President of the Massachusetts Podiatric Medical Society and a Member of the Board of Registration in Podiatry. From 1992 to 1994, he attended the Harvard School of Public Health and graduated with a Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in quantitative methods. After 21 years of private practice, Dr Frykberg accepted the position as Clinical Dean of the Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery prior to moving to Phoenix. After 15 years of dedicated service to our Veterans, Dr Frykberg has decided to retire from his role as Chief of Podiatry at the Phoenix VA Medical Center and as Director of the Phoenix VA Medical Center Podiatric Residency Program. He continues to hold the academic rank of Professor, University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix and Adjunct Professor, Midwestern University Program in Podiatric Medicine. Currently, Dr Frykberg is Clinical Professor and Residency Director, Department of Orthopaedics, at UT Health San Antonio, Division of Podiatry in San Antonio, Texas. His research and writing interests have included all facets of lower extremity disorders, but are specifically focused on diabetic foot ulcers, infections, Charcot foot, and wound care. The author of nearly 100 peer-reviewed publications, he has also been the Editor of two textbooks: The High-Risk Foot in Diabetes Mellitus (1991) and the Diabetic Charcot Foot (2010). His expertise in the Diabetic Foot translated into hundreds of speaking invitations nationally and internationally with numerous lecture engagements in China, India, Russia, South America, the UK, Vietnam, Japan, Indonesia, Italy, and across Europe.

Stanley Kalish, DPM, FACFAS is the Founder of the Superbones Conferences. He is a well-known author, and inventor of the TLS drain, the Kalish Osteotomy for Hallux Valgus correction. Dr Kalish is the winner of the 2003 Podiatry Management Lifetime Achievement Award. He has three children and five grandchildren. Dr Kalish practices in Atlanta, Georgia, and Nassau, Bahamas where he is a surgical consultant. He is a consultant to several U.S. orthopedic and pharmaceutical companies.

Alan Bass, DPM, CPC, FACPM is a Board-Certified podiatrist and CEO of JARALL Medical Management. Dr Bass ran a successful practice in New Jersey until 2024, since finishing his residency in 1994. He is a Fellow of both the American College of Podiatric Medicine as well as the American Academy of Podiatric Practice Management. In addition, he is a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) by the American Academy of Professional Coders. He is a frequent lecturer nationwide in the area of medical and business management as well as charting, coding and compliance. Dr Bass also provided business and practice management guidance while previously working as Medical Director for NEMO Health, the previous owners of TRAKnet EHR. With the acquisition of TRAKnet by Modernizing Medicine (ModMed), he also previously served on the Client Advisory Board for Podiatry for ModMed.

Nicholas J Bevilacqua, DPM, FACFAS

Nicholas Bevilacqua, DPM, FACFAS is a board-certified, fellowship-trained foot and ankle surgeon. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Binghamton University and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. He then completed his internship and surgical residency in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery at St. Vincent's Catholic Medical Centers in New York. Subsequently, he pursued an additional year of fellowship training in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery and limb salvage at Rosalind Franklin University in North Chicago, IL. This advanced fellowship focused on the conservative and surgical treatment of diabetic conditions affecting the lower extremity, including Charcot foot and ankle reconstruction. Dr Bevilacqua also visited the Russian Ilizarov Scientific Centre for Restorative Traumatology and Orthopaedics in Kurgan, Russia, where he received advanced training on the Ilizarov technique for correcting acute trauma and complex foot and ankle deformities. ​He is board-certified in Foot Surgery and Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He is trained and certified in Total Ankle Replacement surgery and is one of the few surgeons in Bergen County actively performing this surgery. He has been recognized as one of Bergen County's Top Doctors by Bergen Magazine on multiple occasions. ​Dr Bevilacqua has published numerous articles on foot and ankle surgery in peer-reviewed journals and has also written several book chapters on the subject. He is an active member of his profession and regularly lectures at state and national levels. ​He is frequently invited as a faculty member at the ACFAS Foot and Ankle Arthroscopy Surgical Skills course held at the Orthopaedic Learning Center in Chicago, IL. Currently, he serves as a member of the Medical Education Committee for Holy Name Hospital and Medical Center. Dr Bevilacqua resides in Haworth, NJ with his wife and two children. He enjoys snowboarding and is an avid cyclist.

Christopher Bromley, DPM, FACFAS

Christopher Bromley, DPM, FACFAS currently practices foot and ankle surgery in Delray Beach, Florida. Dr Bromley's specialty within the group is Surgery, Sports Medicine, and Homeopathy. Dr Bromley has been passionate about nutrition and complementary medicine since entering private practice. He completed his surgical residency in 1992 in Baltimore, MD. His training included such prestigious hospitals as the University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins. An international and national lecturer of foot and ankle surgery, wound care, and regenerative medicine. When not in the office and on the podium, Dr Bromley is an on-track performance driving instructor and motorcycle track day instructor. Dr Bromley is very proud of his three children Sarah, Kent, and Alexander.

Brandon M Brooks, DPM, MPH

Brandon M Brooks, DPM, MPH, FACPM, FASPS, is a practicing podiatrist and podiatric surgeon-scientist at the Wm Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia, SC. Following the death of his sister from an opioid overdose, Dr. Brooks became increasingly interested in understanding opioid prescribing practice. Of note, he was the first clinician to demonstrate that clinically meaningful variation in postoperative opioid prescribing exists on a national scale among podiatric physicians and surgeons. He and his brother, Bradley M Brooks, DO, DABPN, were also the first to demonstrate that cognitive bias can impact opioid prescribing practice. Dr. Brooks is a graduate of Saint Leo University, the Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine, and the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth.

Maryellen Brucato, DPM, FACFAS is a board certified foot and ankle reconstructive surgeon who owns and operates a private practice in Northern New Jersey. Dr. Brucato has been recognized as a leader in her field serving as faculty for AO North America as well as the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. She is the Chair of the ACFAS Practice Management Committee and sits on the executive board for the ACFAS Tri-state Region. She lectures across the country on a variety of surgical topics and has published numerous research papers in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Brucato remains a committed educator in the field of foot and ankle surgery.

Jeffrey Cusack, DPM, DABPO

Jeffrey Cusack, DPM, DABPO is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedics & Pediatrics, New York College of Podiatric Medicine. He received his BS degree in Chemistry at the University of Miami, Florida. Dr Cusack is passionate about biomechanics; when he sees a foot problem; whether callus or bunion or something else; he thinks about what the cause could be from a biomechanical point of view. Why is the callus or bunion located where it is? The mechanics of the foot determine the location.

Joseph D'Amico, DPM

Joseph D'Amico, DPM, DSc, DABPM is a graduate of the New York College of Podiatric Medicine (NYCPM) where he also completed his surgical residency training. Dr D'Amico holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from Fordham University and in 2021 he was awarded the Doctor of Science degree from NYCPM. He has directed and taught in the Department of Biomechanics at the California College of Podiatric Medicine. Dr D'Amico served as Chairman of the Division of Orthopedic Sciences at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine for over a decade where he is an active professor in orthopedics and pediatrics. For five years Dr D'Amico served and directed foot and ankle care at the New York City Marathon. He is the author of the text "Care of The Feet" as well as over 60 medical research publications dealing with lower extremity biomechanics and computerized gait examination. Dr D'Amico is an expert as well as a pioneer in the relationship between back pain and foot dysfunction and is Board Certified in Podiatric Medicine, a Fellow of the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine, and a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Pediatrics. He has been elected by his peers to the distinguished status of Diplomat in the National Academies of Practice. Sponsored by an educational grant from a grateful patient, he is the founder and scientific chairman of the Richard O Schuster, DPM Memorial Biomechanics Seminar held annually at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine.

Matthew G Garoufalis, DPM, FASPS, FACPM, CWS, FFPM RCPS (Glasg), FRSM graduated from Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio with degrees in Biology and Economics and went on to graduate from the Dr Wm M Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine. Dr Garoufalis is a past president of the Illinois Podiatric Medical Association, a Past President of the American Podiatric Medical Association, and is the Immediate Past President of the International Federation of Podiatrists. Dr Garoufalis is Board Certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and American Board of Podiatric Medicine with Added Qualification in Wound Care and Limb Preservation. He is a Founding Fellow of American Society of Podiatric Surgeons and a Fellow of American College of Foot and Ankle Orthopedics and Medicine. He is also a Certified Wound Specialist by the American Board of Wound Management. Dr Garoufalis is a Fellow of the Faculty of Podiatric Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. He is a noted authored of many articles and, as an invited speaker, has accepted speaking engagements for educational lectures, seminars, and workshops, both nationally and internationally, on a variety of topics pertinent to wound care, podiatric medicine and surgery, and practice management. He is considered a Key Opinion Leader in many areas.

Suhad A Hadi, DPM, FACFAS graduated from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine, now Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine in 1997. She completed a 3-year surgical residency at the University of Texas at San Antonio from 1997-2000. Upon completion of her training, she continued as faculty at UTHSC-SA where she served as Director of Resident Education for 3 years. She then went on to private practice with Mercy Medical Group, now Dignity Health, in Sacramento, California. While there she served as Chief of Podiatry within the group and served as Medical Director of their Timberlake satellite clinic. Dr Hadi was also Section Chief at Mercy San Juan and Mercy General Hospitals and held various leadership roles within the multispecialty group. She has been with the Veterans Administration since 2009 and was Director of the PAVE (Prevention of Amputations in Veterans Everywhere) program in Seattle, Washington. She is now full-time faculty at Louis Stokes Veterans Administration in Cleveland at the Akron CBOC facility. Her training and work have given her a strong background in diabetic foot and limb salvage as well as resident education/training. She founded and developed the Residency Educator

Warren S Joseph, DPM, FIDSA

Warren S. Joseph, DPM, FIDSA is a specialist in the treatment of lower extremity infectious diseases. He received his podiatric degree, magna cum laude, from the W.M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago. Dr Joseph completed his postgraduate training in podiatric medicine/surgery at St. Joseph's Hospital and a fellowship in infectious diseases at Hahnemann University School of Medicine, both in Philadelphia. He is currently an Adjunct Clinical Professor at the Arizona College of Podiatric Medicine at Midwestern University in Glendale, AZ.
Dr Joseph is a fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America and sits on the IDSA Diabetic Foot Infection Guidelines Committee. He is also certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and currently serves as Editor of the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association. Dr Joseph lectures extensively, and his presentations have focused on the treatment of bacterial and fungal infections of the lower extremity. He has authored close to 100 publications in the field of lower extremity infections and is the author of the Handbook of Lower Extremity Infections, now in its third edition.

Kwasi Kwaadu, DPM, FACFAS

Originally from Ghana, Dr Kwaadu completed his residency and fellowship training with Dr. Justin Fleming in 2012 and 2013 respectively in Philadelphia. His training specialized in reconstructive trauma of the foot and ankle. Following his training, D. Kwaadu joined the department of surgery at the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine immediately thereafter and is now the current assistant residency director and the Department Chair at Temple University. Over the past 4 years, he delved into minimally invasive surgery and offers this in many iterations beyond distal metatarsal osteotomies for bunions. As he has progressed, he utilized these techniques in a myriad of forefoot reconstructive procedures, and as the director of Temple University

Javier La Fontaine, DPM, MS, MEd is a Dean and Professor at the University of Texas - Rio Grande Valley School of Podiatric Medicine in Harlingen, Texas. He is also at Professor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. Dr La Fontaine holds a Bachelor of Science in biology from Xavier University and a Master of Science in clinical investigation (biomedical sciences) from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2006. He also has a Masters in Education with an emphasis in higher education from Liberty University in 2021. He earned his doctoral degree in podiatric medicine at the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine and completed residencies in both podiatric medicine and podiatric surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Jarrod Shapiro, DPM, FACFAS, FACPM is a Board-Certified podiatric foot and ankle physician and surgeon who has been in practice for almost 20 years. He is also a fellow with the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and the American College of Podiatric Medicine. Dr Shapiro has taught at Western University of Health Sciences College of Podiatric Medicine for the past 13 years and is a full professor and associate dean of clinical affairs. He is the assistant director at the Chino Valley Medical Center PMSR/RRA program in Chino, California. Dr Shapiro's training includes a 3-year foot and ankle residency at Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills, Michigan after graduating from the California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco, CA in 2003. After completing his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree at the California College of Podiatric Medicine, he did his 3-year postgraduate training at Botsford General Hospital in Farmington Hills, Michigan from 2003 - 2006. Marie Williams, DPM, DABPS, DHLS, is board certified in foot and ankle surgery and a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgery. Dr Williams was the first clinical dean at Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine and is currently an Adjunct Professor for the school. Dr Williams has been in private practice since 1984. She is currently the Chairman of the Department of Podiatry at Aventura Hospital and Medical Center. She has been involved in residency training since 1986 and a Program Director in Podiatric Surgery and Medicine since 1988. Dr Williams is a speaker in the field of foot and ankle surgery as well as limb salvage. She has published several articles on the healing of complex wounds and limb salvage, while also authoring a chapter: Bone Infections in Foot and Ankle Radiology. In August 2014, Dr Williams was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts along with her teammates from Immaculata College. Their team, the Mighty Macs, captured three consecutive Championships. They were considered trailblazers for women sports, and in the 70s they help bring about Title 9 and equality for women in sports. In June 2015 they received the trailblazer award in the women
